Anna-Anita Cesnjevar (Beginning Adults) cesnjevar@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org ...hails from Franconia, a region of northern Bavaria in Germany.  She studied French & Italian at universities in Bamberg, Germany and Geneva, Switzerland and has taught German, French and Italian at various levels, including High School in Los Alamos, NM, and college at the University of New Mexico. Today she is a lecturer at Ohio State University in Italian, and loves having the opportunity to teach her native language, and to talk to about her homeland and its culture.


Angela Buckley
(Intermediate Adults) buckley@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org ...earned Bachelor's Degrees from Ohio State University in German Language & Literature and Metallurgy, a Masters Degree from OSU in Material Science, and is pursuing a doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University. She has tutored, translated and taught German at many levels. She is a triathlete, plays the Alphorn, hails from Elgin, Minnesota and now lives in Dublin, Ohio.


Ingrid Langer
(Advanced Adults) langer@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org ...is from Austria, and has lived in the U.S. since 1965. She received her bachelor's degree at Mount Union College, her Master's degree from the University of Florida, and her certification to teach French from OSU. She has taught both French and German in private and public schools for 30 years. Her hobbies include travel, gardening, singing with a German choir, reading and enjoying her grandsons.


David Garman
(Beginning Children) garman@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org ...is studying German at Ohio State University where he has been on the Dean's list for 10 consecutive terms. He was awarded a research grant for independent study, which he took advantage of this past summer in Berlin.  He has also studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn, Germany, and has tutored students in German at all levels.


Annelise Maurer (Intermediate Children) maurer@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org ...is from right here in central Ohio and first studied German at the Columbus School for Girls, during which time she participated in an exchange with a family in Obernissa, near Weimar. She attended Beloit College in Wisconsin under a piano performance scholarship, and graduated with honors with a degree in German Language and Literature, with a secondary emphasis on Russian language. She also studied at the University of Erfurt in Germany and has worked as a German tutor and teacher and translator in various venues. She is currently in her second semester in the Kent State Master's of Library and Information Science program, where she is pursuing a concentration in Children's and Young Adult's Services.

 

Chantal Shoaf (Native Speaking Children) shoaf@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org) ...was born in Berlin and grew up in Treuchtlingen in Bavaria.  She has a Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education from Stenden University, and is licensed to teach in the Netherlands, Europe and Ohio.  She has taught elementary aged children in three countries: Germany (Augusburg and Meppen), Holland (Emmen) and as a substitute in the U.S. (Delaware, Upper Arlington and the Olentangy School District), providing instruction in three languages: German, Dutch and English! She currently resides with her husband in Plain City, Ohio.

 

Britta Krell (Early Childhood) krell@ohiogermanlanguageschool.org ...was raised and schooled in Germany and moved to Columbus in 1969. She is an early childhood educator and has recently retired after 35 years in the field. During that time she was the co-owner and director of a childcare center, a political advocate for children, and during the last 12 years a teacher of children ages 18 months to 5 years. She has two adult children, Sylke and Torsten, enjoys visiting family in Germany and values her German heritage.
